Good news for students who appeared in the HSLC Examination 2026! The wait is finally over. The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Division-II has released the merit list for HS 1st Year (Class XI) admission today, 25 April 2026, at 10 AM. If you applied through the DARPAN portal, now is the time to log in and check your status.
What is the DARPAN Portal?
DARPAN is the official online admission portal used by ASSEB for Class XI admissions in Assam. Everything — from applying to accepting your seat — happens here. There is no offline process allowed this year, so students must complete all steps through the portal only.
Who Can Check the Merit List?
Any student who applied between 12 April and 22 April 2026 through the DARPAN portal can now check whether they have been selected. Students from ASSEB (Division-I) as well as other recognized state or national boards are eligible, as long as they have passed their Class X (HSLC) examination.
How to Check Your Name in the Merit List
Checking your selection status is simple. Just follow these steps:
- Go to the DARPAN portal
- Log in using your mobile number, date of birth, and 4-digit PIN
- Click on “Application Submitted” on your dashboard
- You will see a list of all the schools or colleges you applied to, along with the status of each
If your name appears in the selection list of any institution, you are one step away from securing your admission.
What To Do After Seeing Your Result
This is the most important part. If you are selected, you must accept the admission offer between 25 April and 27 April 2026 — you have only three days.
Here is what you need to keep in mind:
- You can accept the offer of only one institution, even if multiple schools have selected you
- Once you accept, you cannot change your decision — it is final and permanent
- If you miss the three-day window, your name will be removed from the list and you will be informed by SMS
So do not delay. Log in today itself and complete the acceptance step.
Can You Change Your Subject or Stream?
Yes! If you want a different stream or subject combination than what you originally chose, you can request a change at the time of physical admission. The institution will update your subjects directly on the DARPAN portal on the day you visit.
What Happens After You Accept?
Once you accept the offer online, the institution will call you for physical document verification. This verification will happen between 28 April and 8 May 2026. Make sure you visit the institution on the date they inform you and carry the following documents:
- HSLC Admit Card and Marksheet
- HSLC Pass Certificate (if issued)
- School Leaving or Transfer Certificate
- Recent passport-size photographs
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
- Disability Certificate (if applicable)
- Aadhaar Card
- Any other certificate relevant to your category
Carry original documents along with one set of self-attested photocopies.
Important Update for Gap Year Students
If you took a break after Class X and are now applying after a gap year, here is something important — ASSEB has discontinued the Gap Permission Certificate from the 2025-26 session onwards. You no longer need to get any special permission from the board. Simply visit the institution during physical verification, explain your situation, carry a gap certificate or affidavit, and the school or college will decide your eligibility directly.
