Assam HS Result Rechecking 2026: Apply for HS Answer Script Rechecking

The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Division II announced the HS Final Examination 2026 result on 28 April 2026. If you have checked your result and feel that your marks are not right, do not worry. The board gives every student a chance to get their answer scripts re-checked. This process is called “Punarikshan” or re-checking, and it is now open for all students of Arts, Commerce, Science, and Vocational streams.

What is re-checking? Is it the same as re-evaluation?

Many students think re-checking and re-evaluation are the same thing. They are NOT. It is very important to understand this difference before you apply.

Re-evaluation means that a completely new examiner reads your answers from the beginning and gives fresh marks. ASSEB does NOT offer re-evaluation.

Re-checking means the board will carefully look at your already-marked answer script to check for three specific things:

1. All marks you got are added up correctly (re-totaling of marks).

2. No answer that you wrote has been accidentally skipped or left unmarked by the examiner.

3. No marks have been entered wrongly in any way — for example, writing 8 instead of 18.

So re-checking is mainly about fixing mistakes in adding or skipped questions — not about judging whether your answers deserved more marks.

Important things to know before you apply

Your scanned answer script will be emailed to you

When you apply for re-checking, the board will send a scanned (digital) copy of your answer script to the email address you give in the application form. This helps you see exactly what you wrote.

Your marks could go down — not just up

If during re-checking the board finds that more marks were given than deserved, your marks can also be reduced. If your marks go down, those reduced marks will become your final marks. So think carefully before applying.

If your marks change after re-checking, ASSEB will issue a new Certificate cum Marks-sheet for you. To get this new certificate, you must submit the original Certificate cum Marks-sheet at the board’s office. Your school’s head (principal or headmaster) must also be informed. The board will NOT directly send the updated certificate to your school or to you through any other agency — you have to collect it yourself from the board’s office.

If you do not collect your new certificate within 30 days after the re-checking result is declared, it will not be issued to you. So make sure you are available to collect it on time.

Application fee

Fee per subject: ₹500

The fee of Rs. 500 per subject is non-refundable. This means you will not get the money back whether or not your marks change. Payment must be done online only — no cash or offline payments are accepted.

How to apply — step by step

The entire process is done online through the official “Punarikshan” portal. Follow these steps carefully:

1. Go to the official ASSEB website and find the “HS Answer Script Rechecking Apply” link.

2. Click the link to open the online application portal called “Punarikshan.”

3. Register yourself by entering your Roll Number and Mobile Number.

4. Log in with the username and password that is generated during registration.

5. Fill in all your personal details — Roll Number, subject(s) you want re-checked, and your email address.

6. Pay the application fee of Rs. 500 per subject online.

7 Submit your application. Keep a copy or screenshot of the submission confirmation.

Important: enter your email address carefully

The scanned copy of your answer script will be sent to the email address you provide in this form. If the email is wrong, you will not receive your answer script copy. Double-check it before submitting.

Who should apply for re-checking?

You should consider applying if you believe that your total marks were added incorrectly, if you answered a question but it appears to be unmarked, or if you suspect that some marks were entered wrongly. If you simply feel your answers deserved better marks from the examiner, re-checking will likely not help — because the quality of your answers is not re-judged in this process.
