GURET Merit List 2024

Gauhati University has released an official notification regarding the GURET Result 2024. The University has published the GURET result along with the GURET merit list for PhD admissions on July 22, 2024. Applicants can download the merit list from the official Gauhati University website at guonline.in. As soon as the result is published, we will update it here.

The merit list will be based only on the marks obtained in the GURET 2024 exam. In case of a tie (when two or more candidates have equal marks), the following criteria will be used to determine their ranking:

• First, the ratio of positive marks to negative marks will be calculated. The candidate with a higher absolute value of this ratio will receive a better rank.
• If the tie persists, the number of unanswered questions will be considered. The candidate with fewer unanswered questions will be ranked higher.
• If there is still no resolution, the candidate who is older will be ranked higher.

Gauhati University PhD Entrance Test – GURET 2024

Gauhati University accepted online applications for the Research Eligibility Test (GURET) from June 5th to June 18th, 2024. GURET 2024 serves as your gateway to pursuing a PhD in various subjects. The GU PhD admission will take place between August 12th and 15th, 2024. As the merit list will be released for GU PhD admission in 2024, applicants can now download their GURET merit list here.

Gauhati University PhD Counselling 2024

Gauhati University PhD Counselling 2024 will be held on 5 and 6 August. This mandatory session is conducted by each department for admission. Candidates must bring original documents on their scheduled date. Download the counselling list for required documents. Details like date, time, venue, and reporting instructions will be announced by each department soon.

GURET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

To enroll in a PhD program, you need to have completed a master’s degree in subjects like Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Law, Technology, Engineering, Medicine, or other professional areas from a recognized university.

You should have scored at least 55% marks or its equivalent. If you belong to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) categories or have a disability, the minimum score required is 50%.

Students who are in their final year of postgraduate studies can also apply. But they must share their final scores before the selection list is finalized.

Working professionals need to get a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their current employer to be eligible.

International students don’t need to take the GURET exam. Their admission process can be done through online methods. Make sure to check the official announcement for all the details and requirements.

GURET 2024 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for GURET is as follows:

• The question paper will contain 100 MCQs.
• 1 mark for every correct answer.
• The total marks for the exam will be 100.
• The exam duration is 2 hours only.
• Negative marking: 0.25 marks.
• No marks for unattempted questions.

Application Fee

The application fee is Rs. 1,500.00 per subject and for appearing in two subjects, the application fee will be Rs. 2,500.00 plus the bank transaction charge.
