Bhattadev University, located in Bajali, Assam, was established on June 24, 2019. It grew out of the well-known Bajali College, which has a history of over sixty years. The university is named after Bhattadev, a key figure in Assamese literature and Sanskrit studies. It was officially created by the Bhattadev University Act, 2017.
