Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must possess a degree from a recognized university incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India. Equivalent qualifications recognized by the government are also accepted. Additionally, applicants must:

  • Be proficient in Assamese or any official/state-recognized tribal language.
  • Be registered with an Assam District Employment Office.
  • Be an original inhabitant of Assam.
  • Ex-servicemen must provide an Ex-Servicemen Identity Card and Discharge Book.
  • Candidates with benchmark disabilities must check the available reserved posts before applying.

Age Limit:

As of January 1, 2025, the age criteria are:

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 38 years

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years (up to 43 years)
  • OBC/MOBC: 3 years (up to 41 years)
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years across all categories

Exam Centers

Prelims Exam Centers:

The Preliminary Examination will be conducted across multiple locations in Assam, including Guwahati, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, and Silchar, among others.

Mains Exam Center:

The Main Examination will be held exclusively in Guwahati.

Exam Dates and Pattern

Preliminary Examination:

  • Tentative Date: June 1, 2025
  • Total Marks: 400
  • Paper-I: General Studies I (200 marks, 2 hours)
  • Paper-II: General Studies II (200 marks, 2 hours) – Qualifying paper with 33% minimum marks

Main Examination & Interview:

Candidates qualifying the Prelims will be eligible for the Main Exam, tentatively scheduled for August/September 2025. The Main Examination consists of six papers, each carrying 250 marks. Additionally, the Interview (Personality Test) carries 180 marks, making a total of 1680 marks.

  • General/EWS: ₹297.20
  • SC/ST/OBC/MOBC: ₹197.20
  • BPL/PwBD/Women: ₹47.20
