Eligibility Criteria – Who Can Apply?
Before you fill out the application form, it is very important to check whether you are eligible or not. Here are the eligibility conditions in simple terms:
Educational Qualification: You must have passed your Bachelor’s degree (like BA, BSc, BCom) or Master’s degree in Sciences, Social Sciences, or Humanities with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Students from Engineering or Technology backgrounds need 55% marks with specialisation in Science and Mathematics.
Important Note: If you have scored 50% or more in your Honours or Major subject but less than 50% in the overall aggregate, you will not be eligible. The 50% rule applies to the total aggregate marks — not just the main subject.
Entrance Test: You must also appear and qualify in the B.Ed. CET exam conducted by Dibrugarh University.
Relaxation in Marks
Certain categories of students can get a 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks:
- Students belonging to SC, ST, OBC, MOBC, or PWD categories
- Candidates who have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in a school recognised up to Class 10 by the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB)
Please note that you can only avail relaxation under one category — not both at the same time.

Exam Syllabus of DU B.Ed CET
The B.Ed. CET is an OMR-based written exam carrying a total of 70 marks. The questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Here is the subject-wise breakdown:
| Subject | Marks |
|---|---|
| General Knowledge | 25 |
| General English | 15 |
| Test of Reasoning | 10 |
| Numerical Ability | 10 |
| Teaching Aptitude | 10 |
| Total | 70 |
The exam will be conducted from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, giving you 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete all the questions.
Selection Process
Clearing the entrance test alone doesn’t guarantee admission. The final selection is based on two components:
1. CET Score (70 marks): This is your score in the Common Entrance Test.
2. Career Performance (30 marks): This is calculated based on your past academic performance in HSLC, HS, Bachelor’s Degree, and/or Master’s Degree. The formula is simple — 10% of the marks you scored in each exam becomes your career performance marks. For example, if you scored 53% in your Bachelor’s degree, your career performance marks for that exam will be 5.3.
After clearing the CET, you will need to separately apply to the B.Ed. college of your choice. The respective institution will finalise admissions based on both your CET score and career performance marks.
Exam Centres
The CET will be held at the following centres across the region:
| Centre Name | Centre Code |
|---|---|
| Dibrugarh | 01 |
| Jorhat | 02 |
| Golaghat | 03 |
| Lakhimpur | 04 |
| Dhemaji | 05 |
| Tinsukia | 06 |
| Dhakuakhana | 07 |
| Sivasagar | 08 |
Choose your exam centre carefully while filling out the application form.
