Notably, the number of women participating has grown, with 24,54,376 women joining compared to 22,02,812 last year. While male participation dropped slightly (29,04,285 this year compared to 30,73,669 last year), the overall interest in sports continues to rise among both men and women in Assam.
Community Engagement Through Gaon Panchayat Competitions
The Gaon Panchayat level competitions are a unique feature of Khel Maharan 2.0, set to be held in multiple districts from November 16 to November 21, 2024. Organized by Assam’s Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, these competitions cover Cachar, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Biswanath, and Nagaon districts. The Deputy Chief Electoral Officer of Assam has mandated strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), ensuring that the event remains free from political influence, focusing solely on sportsmanship and athletic spirit.

Registration for Khel Maharan 2.0 opened on September 30, 2024, and continues until November 13, 2024. Interested participants can register through the official website or the Khel Maharan Mobile App available on the Google Play Store.
To register, candidates need to:

2. Complete the player registration by providing personal details like name, address, Aadhar number, and uploading a passport-size photo.
3. After submission, participants receive a unique registration ID.
